Device Users

The Device Users feature (Manage > Device Users > Users) allows you to connect and group device users and their associated Personal USB Devices through a Poly Lens App. The Device Users page allows you to manage this list of users (add new, delete, filter, migrate, search, and sort) as well as link to the Device Users Detail page. Additionally, you can manage the users into Groups.

The following information displays for each Device User.

FieldDescription
App VersionDisplays the Lens App version(s) the Device User is running.
ClientDisplays the client that the devices are connected through.
Desktop: User is connected through the Poly Lens Desktop App.
Mobile: User is connected through the Poly Lens Mobile App.
Web: User is connected through the Poly Lens Web App.
Device CountThe number of devices connected to the Lens App for this Device User.
Device User NameName of the Device User. Note: This name is a link to the Device User Details page.
Last DetectedThe last date that Poly Lens connected with the Device User.
Primary DeviceDisplays the Primary Device that is connected through the Lens App.
StatusIndicates if the device is Green dot icon icon Online, or Red dot icon icon Offline.

Add a New Device User

You can add a Device User to Poly Lens by sending them an invitation.

  1. Go to Manage > Device Users.
  2. Select Users from the side tab.
  3. Select Add New.
  4. Enter the email address of the individual to invite.
    Note: You can enter multiple email addresses at one time, separated by a comma or a semicolon.
  5. Select Add. A confirmation message displays listing the email addresses the invitation has been sent to.
  6. The invitee will open the invitation and select Get Started to accept the invitation to Poly Lens.
  7. Select the Download button and install if you do not have the App yet.
  8. When the is App setup and a device is attached, the connected devices will appear in the Device User Details. Note: For Detailed information on Poly Lens Apps, locate the App User Documentation at Device Documentation.

Group Users

You can group a number of Device Users for a more customized level of management.

Create a New Group

Create a new Group of Device Users.

  1. Go to Manage > Device Users.
  2. Select Users from the side tab.
  3. Select the Device Users from the list to Group.
  4. Select Group > Create New Group.
  5. Enter a Group Name.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. A window will display the new group name and number of users. Select Confirm.
  8. A message with displays with a confirmation of the new group and a link to view.
    Note: This Group can also be viewed by selecting Groups in the side tab and selecting the Group from the list.

Add to an Existing Group

Add a Device User to an existing Group.

  1. Go to Manage > Device Users.
  2. Select Users from the side tab.
  3. Select the Device User(s) from the list to Group.
  4. Select Group > Add to Existing Group.
  5. Select Continue.
  6. A window will display the new group name and number of users. Select Confirm.

Remove from Group

Remove a Device User from a Group.

  1. Go to Manage > Device Users.
  2. Select Users from the side tab.
  3. Select the Device Users from the list to Group.
  4. Select Group > Remove from Group.
  5. Select the Group to remove the User from in the list.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. Select Confirm.

Migrate a Device User

You can Migrate or move a Device User (and its associated devices) to another Account.

  1. Go to Manage > Device Users.
  2. Select Users from the side tab.
  3. Select the Device User from the list to Migrate to another Account.
  4. Select Migrate.
  5. Select an account from the drop-down list.
  6. Select Continue.
  7. A confirmation of your selection will appear. Select Continue to complete the migration.
  8. To confirm, select the Account (from the Account selector from the Home page) that you migrated the Device User to. The Device Users page will refresh with this Account's information. The migrated Device User should appear in this list.

Delete a Device User

You can delete a Device User from Poly Lens.

  1. Go to Manage > Device Users.
  2. Select Users from the side tab.
  3. Select the Device User from the list to delete.
  4. Select Delete.
  5. Select Remove to confirm the deletion of the Device User.

Manage Device Users

The Device User Name is a link to the Device Users Overview page for this specific Device User. See Device Users - Overview for detailed information.

Before you can manage personal USB devices through Poly Lens, the following is required:

  • Poly Lens must be associated to Poly Lens Desktop with the Add a New Device User feature
  • USB devices must be connected to Poly Lens Desktop
  • Devices must be displayed on the Poly Lens Inventory page.
    Note: In the Device Model field, Lens Desktop is listed.
