Policy Settings

The Policy Settings page allows you to configure a Policy in Poly Lens. This section is specific to Policy Settings.

Note: In Poly Lens Device Settings and Policy Settings cover a similar set of provisioning options.

  • Device Settings are applied to one device
  • Policy Settings are applied to a group of devices (one model type)

Edit Policy Settings

To edit an existing Policy, go to the Policy Settings.
For detailed information on the Settings for the specific model, see the associated documentation at Device Documentation.

  1. Go to Manage > Policies.
  2. Select the Policy type.
  3. Search/select a Policy from the list.
  4. Select the specific device from the filtered device list.
  5. In the specific Policy that is applied to the devices, you can view all the settings and view the Inheritance for each field.
    Note: Another tool that can be used here is the My Settings from the side tab. Here you can view levels of Policies that have been applied, and which one is taking priority.

Note: ToolTips (question mark icon) have been provided on fields to assist you with setting the parameters.

Settings Options

SettingDescription
Filter settingsThis feature allows you to enter search parameters, resulting in displaying only the Settings that contain those parameters. For example: Enter "date". All sections that include date settings will display in the sidebar.
My SettingsWith this feature you can view and manage all the changes that have made to this device. See My Settings (my-settings.md).
Software UpdateAllows you to check the current version, and update the device software, if needed.

Note: Other misc. fields are displayed depending on the product type. For information on these fields, see the product documentation in Device Documentation.

Software Update

The Software Update feature allows you to manage the software level on a device.

  1. Go to Manage > Policies.
  2. Select a device from the Device List.
  3. Select the Software Update tab.
  4. Select your software options:

The following are the options available, not all options are available on all products.

FieldDescription
Auto-update with Latest VersionThis option will update the software when a new version is released. The latest version that is applied will be displayed.
Note When this option is enabled the Download Source and Select Version for Update will no longer display.
Delay Software UpdateThis option will delay the software update on a policy that is applied to devices attached through Poly Lens Desktop (version 1.3.0 or higher). Options are
None - no forced auto update will take place. End-users can indefinitely delay upgrade to the version selected.
Max 3 times with update after restart - end-users will be able to delay update up to 3 times. Installation is automatically initiated after 3rd delay on app restart.
Field available on devices in Device, Device Model or Device User Group Policy.
Disable Software UpdateThis option disable the Software Update on these devices in this policy.
Download SourcePoly Lens: This option enables the download the device software from the Poly Lens server. Then select the software version from the Select Version for Update drop-down list.
Customer Server: will download the device software from a custom server that you define in the Update Server Address field below. Field available on Voice devices.
Check for an Update Every (seconds)This option sets the time interval your system checks for a new software version available.
Note: This option only applies when using the Auto-update mode.
Update WindowThis option sets a maintenance window time that you would like the update to be implemented.

  1. Click Apply.
    Note: You can modify the device, however you cannot apply the device settings until Device Provisioning is enabled. See Enable Device Provisioning on an Account. Once enabled, the device settings will be applied during the next polling cycle.

Policy Inheritance Status

To the right of each Settings field an Policy Inheritance status is listed, which indicates what Policy is controlling the setting of the field. For additional information see, Policies.

This Device Policy – Indicates this field has been set by a Individual Device Policy.
Device User Group policy - Indicates this field has been set by a Device User Group Policy.
Site: (Policy Name/link) – Indicates this field has been set by a Site Policy - Device Model.
Site Device Family: (Policy Name/link) – Indicates this field has been set by a Site Device Family Policy.
Group (Policy Name/link) – Indicates this field has been set by a Device Group Policy - Device Model
Group Device Family: (Policy Name/link) – Indicates this field has been set by a Device Group Family Policy.
Device Model: (Policy Name/link) – Indicates this field has been set by a Account Policy - Device Model.
Device Family: (Policy Name/link) – Indicates this field has been set by a Account Policy - Device Family.
Blank – Indicates this field is at the Device default setting
