Device Provisioning on an Account

Device Provisioning allows you to onboard and provision your voice and video devices.
Once you enter the provisioning credentials, Poly Lens automatically generates a unique provisioning service address for your Poly Lens account. You may then use your Poly Lens account provisioning credentials in conjunction with a DHCP server, or by manually entering your credentials into the provisioning server settings within individual Poly devices.
Note: By default, Device Provisioning is enabled when you create an account. The provisioning credential information is retained, and you are able to disable, enable and edit the server credentials at any time.

When a device utilizes Poly Lens provisioning credentials:

  • The device will be added to your Poly Lens account inventory.
  • The device software version will be upgraded (as needed) to a Poly Lens-capable version.
  • Device configuration will be modified to enable Poly Lens management and insights.

Enable Device Provisioning on an Account

To make any changes to the settings on a device within an account, you must first enable provisioning on the account.

  1. Go to the ACCOUNT menu > Manage All Accounts.
  2. Select an account from the list.
  3. Select Device Provisioning from the side tabs.
  4. Enter a Server User name.
  5. Enter a Password and repeat to confirm.
  6. Click Enable Provisioning.

Auto-Sync Credentials with Devices

The Auto-Sync Credentials with Devices feature enables you to send provisioning credentials, or changes to credentials, to all Poly OS and UCS (Video and Voice) devices on an Account.

This feature is designed for the following:
Note: The Poly R30 and Poly Studio USB devices will not be impacted when Auto-Sync Credentials with Devices is enabled.

  • When Auto-Sync is Enabled, then all Poly OS and UCS devices on that Account will receive existing provisioning credentials and connect to the Provisioning server.
  • When Auto-Sync is Enabled and you modify the provisioning credentials:
    • New credentials will be applied to all Poly OS and UCS devices on that Account.
    • If the device is Online, new configuration will be applied immediately.
    • If device is Offline, the new configuration will be applied when device returns to Online status.
  • For new Accounts, Auto-Sync is On by default, however this feature can be turned Off at any time. Therefore when a Poly OS or UCS device is connected to an Account, it will receive provisioning credentials and automatically connect to Provisioning server. This also applies to PIN onboarded devices.

Important: Policy provisioning values will override the Active Management values on PIN onboarded devices.

Notes:

  • If provisioning is disabled on an Account, Auto-Sync of provisioning credentials will also be disabled.
  • If you turn Off Auto-Sync, no rollback will be performed. Auto-Sync will not continue until you Enable the feature again.
  • For devices that never came Online when feature was Enabled and then Disabled, they will not be synced with provisioning credentials or connect with provisioning server.
  • Do not use the Auto-Sync feature if using DHCP for provisioning credentials.

Enable Auto-Sync

  1. Go to the ACCOUNT menu > Manage Accounts.
  2. Select an Account from the list.
  3. Select Device Provisioning from the side tabs.

  1. Go to the ACCOUNT menu > Manage All Accounts.
  2. Select an account from the list.
  3. Select Device Provisioning from the side tabs.
  4. Click Disable Provisioning.
