Studio Desktop 5.2 Is Here – Shared Device Temporary Inventory View, Enhanced Battery Visibility, Video Device Renaming, and More

HP Poly Studio Desktop App Version 5.2 is now available! This release introduces the following key improvements across the app as well as the resolution of many known issues from recent prior versions:

  • Shared devices now only appear in a user’s desktop app inventory while connected, ensuring their Previously Connected device inventory view remains clean by only displaying their disconnected personal devices.
  • Battery icons have been enlarged throughout the app and charge percentage is now displayed while a device is charging for better end user battery visibility.
  • On the home page calendar widget, end users can now dismiss the current event shown to view the next upcoming event. This is particularly helpful for users with extended calendar holds or placeholder meetings that are not useful to see. Additionally, end users can now click the event displayed on the home page widget to view the event on the calendar page.
  • For video devices that support renaming, these devices can now be renamed inside Studio Desktop. Example devices include Poly Studio R30, V52, and V72.
  • Custom device names can now be reverted to original device names in just two clicks for all devices that can be renamed in Studio Desktop. This is helpful for quickly resetting devices to their standard marketing name when a custom name is no longer desired.
  • The Softphones & Media Players settings section for headsets that display this section has been removed since all supported softphones and media players are enabled by default in Studio Desktop. This streamlines the end user experience by removing unnecessary configuration details and focusing on the settings end users can control.
